مـهـد عـيـســى
"مهد عيسى" هو مصلى صغير على شكل مهد. يقع تحت ساحة المسجد الأقصى المبارك ضمن إسطبلات سليمان بن عبد الملك الخليفة الأموي، ويتم النزول إليه بخمس وثلاثين درجة من خلال سلم ضيق، من باب صغير في الزاوية الجنوبية الشرقية لسور بيت المقدس. بناه الملك "الأشرف عيسى" المعظم من ملوك الأيوبيين عام 614 هجرية 1223 م. وليس مهد "عيسى بن مريم" عليه السلام إذ لم يعرف أنه تربى في بيت المقدس. ولم يكن كذلك محرابا أو مكان تعبد للسيدة مريم عليها السلام، لأنه في زمن عيسى ومريم لم تكن توجد أبنية في ذلك المكان. ولا صحة أيضا لكافة ما نسج حوله من الخرافات والمزاعم
The Cradle of ‘Issa
Its original Arabic name is ‘Mahd 'Issa’, which means ‘The Cradle of ‘Issa’. It was mistranslated by the Biblical Archaeologists as ‘The Cradle of Jesus’, This site is a cradle looking small rectangular room which is used as a place of Muslim worship, located under the courtyard of the El-Aksa Mosque. It is part the Stables of the Umayyad Khalif Suleiman Ben Abdulmalik (Suleiman’s Stables). One descends to this area by a winding staircase containing 35 stairs near the south-east corner of the Wall of Jerusalem. It was built in the year 614 by the Ayyoubi King ‘Al-Ashraf ‘Issa’ from whom it took its name. As a matter of fact it is not the ‘Cradle of Jesus’, because as every body knows, Jesus was not raised in Jerusalem. Also it was not the praying place of St. Mary because at the time of Jesus and St. Mary there were no buildings at this place of Jerusalem
