The Quran is not only unique in the way in which it presents its subject matter, but it is also unique in that it is a miracle itself. By the term “miracle,” we mean the performance of a supernatural or extraordinary event which cannot be duplicated by humans. It has been documented that Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, challenged the Arabs to produce a literary work of a similar caliber as the Quran, but they were unable to do so in spite of their well-known eloquence and literary powers. The challenge to reproduce the Quran was presented to the Arabs and mankind in three stages:
يعد القرآن فريد ليس فقط في الطريقة التي يقدم فيها مادة بحثه بل أيضا لأنه معجزة في حد ذاته. فنحن نعنى بمصطلح "معجزة" القيام بحدث إستثنائى أو خارق للعادة والذي يستحيل على البشر تكراره.
لقد ثبت أن النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم قد تحدى العرب بأن يأتوا بعمل أدبي له نفس الإعجاز الذي في القرآن ولكنهم عجزوا عن القيام بذلك بالرغم من فصاحتهم وقدراتهم الأدبية والبلاغية المشهود لها. وكان هذا التحدى للإتيان بمثل هذا القرآن قد قدم للعرب والبشرية على ثلاث مراحل :
l. The Whole Quran
1- كل القرآن
In the Quran, God commanded the Prophet to challenge all of creation to create a book of the stature of the Quran:
“Say: ‘If all mankind and the jinn would come together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce its like even though they exerted all and their strength in aiding one another.’” (Quran 17:88)
أمر الله سبحانه وتعالى فى كتابه العزيز رسوله الكريم بأن يتحدى كل الخلائق للإتيان بكتاب له نفس مميزات القرآن الكريم وذلك فى قوله تعالى :
" قُلْ لَئِنِ اجْتَمَعَتِ الْإِنْسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى أَنْ يَأْتُوا بِمِثْلِ هَذَا الْقُرْآَنِ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ظَهِيرًا" (الإسراء -88 )
2. Ten Chapters
عشر سور من القرآن
Next, God made the challenge ostensibly easier by asking those who denied its divine origin to imitate even ten chapters of the Quran:
“Or do they say that he has invented it? Say (to them), ‘Bring ten invented chapters like it, and call (for help) on whomever you can besides God, if you are truthful.” (Quran 11:13)
بعد ذلك جعل الله التحدي يبدو أسهل ظاهريا وذلك من خلال تحديه للذين أنكروا نزول القرآن من السماء للإتيان بعشر سور مفتريات من مثله ويتمثل ذلك في قوله تعالى " أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍ مِثْلِهِ مُفْتَرَيَاتٍ وَادْعُوا مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ" (هود- 13 )
3. One Chapter
سورة واحدة من القرآن
This final challenge was to produce even a single chapter to match what is in the Quran, whose shortest chapter, al-Kawthar, consists of only three verses:
“And if you all are in doubt about what I have revealed to My servant, bring a single chapter like it, and call your witnesses besides God if you are truthful.” (Quran 2:23)
وكان هذا التحدي الأخير يتمثل في الإتيان حتى ولو بسورة واحدة تتطابق مع ما جاء في القرآن والتي أقصر سورة فيه هى سورة الكوثر والتي تتكون من ثلاث آيات فقط :
" وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ وَادْعُوا شُهَدَاءَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ " البقرة 23
These challenges were not just empty words with no one caring to prove them wrong. Prophet Muhammad’s call to monotheism, to the abolition of idolatry in all its forms, and to the equality of slaves and their masters threatened the whole socio-economic framework of Mecca society in general, and the position of the ruling Quraishee tribe from which the Prophet came in particular. Mecca, the trading center of Arabia, as well as its spiritual center, desperately wanted to stop the spread of Islam. Yet all that the Prophet’s opponents had to do to crush the movement was to make up a single chapter like any one of those which the Prophet and his followers were reciting to the people. A number of Quraishee orators and poets tried to imitate the Quran, but they failed. They then resorted to offering him vast amounts of wealth, the position of king over them, and the most noble and beautiful of their women in exchange for his promise to stop inviting people to Islam. He responded to them by reciting the first thirteen verses of Chapter Fussilat, until they asked him to stop.[1] The Quraish also resorted to torturing their slaves and relatives who had embraced Islam in a vain attempt to cause them to revert to paganism. Later they organized an economic boycott against the Prophet his followers and the members of his clan, Banu Hashim, in an attempt to starve them into submission. But even this plan eventually failed. Finally, they plotted to kill him in his home by sending armed young men from each of the clans of Quraish in order that the guilt of his murder be shared by all the clans, making revenge by the Prophet’s clan impossible.
هددت دعوة النبي محمد للتوحيد والقضاء على الوثنية بكل أشكالها والمساواة بين السادة والعبيد إطار العمل الاجتماعى الاقتصادى الكامل للمجتمع المكي بصفة عامة ومكانة قبيلة قريش الحاكمة التي أتى منها الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم بصفة خاصة . أرادت مكة ( كفار مكة) التي تعتبر مركز التجارة في شبه الجزيرة العربية وأيضا مركزها الديني أن توقف بشدة انتشار الإسلام برغم أن كل ما كان يتوجب علي خصوم رسول الله فعله ليقضوا على حركة انتشار الإسلام هو أن يأتوا بسورة واحدة مثل التي كان يقرأها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأتباعه على الناس . إن تلك التحديات لم تكن مبارزة وعود كاذبة دون أن يهتم أحد لإثبات عدم صحتها فإن عددا من خطباء وشعراء قريش حاولوا أن يقلدوا القرآن ولكنهم فشلوا ، فلجئوا بعد ذلك إلى عرض مبالغ ضخمة من المال عليه صلى الله عليه وسلم وأن ينصبوه ملكا عليهم وعرض أكثر النساء مكانة وجمالا من بين نسائهم في مقابل تعهد منه بالكف عن دعوة الناس للإسلام فأجابهم صلى الله عليه وسلم بقراءة أول ثلاث عشر آية من سورة فصلت حتى طلبوا منه أن يتوقف ، لجأت قريش أيضا إلى تعذيب عبيدهم وأقاربهم الذين اعتنقوا الإسلام في محاولة فاشلة للضغط عليهم كي يعودوا للوثنية ، بعد ذلك نظموا مقاطعة اقتصادية لمحاربة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأتباعه وأبناء عشيرته بنى هاشم في محاولة لتجويعهم ومن ثم إرغامهم على الاستسلام ولكن في آخر الأمر فشلت هي الأخرى . في النهاية قام كفار قريش بتدبير مكيدة لقتله صلى الله عليه وسلم في داره وذلك بإرسال شبان مسلحين من كل عشائر قريش فيتفرق دمه صلى الله عليه وسلم على كل القبائل فيكون من المستحيل على بنى هاشم الثأر لدمه صلى الله عليه وسلم.
However, God enabled the Prophet and his followers to flee Mecca and join a new band of converts who had arisen among the tribes of a city to the north called Yathrib. Islam spread rapidly through the clans of Yathrib, and within a year Muslims became the city’s majority. Prophet Muhammad was then made the ruler, and the name of the city was changed to Medina an-Nabi (The City of the Prophet may God praise him), which was then shortened to “Medina.” Over the next eight years, the clans of Mecca and its neighboring lands mounted a series of unsuccessful battle campaigns against the emerging Muslim state in Medina, which ended with the Muslim invasion of Mecca itself.
ولكن الله مكن رسوله وأتباعه من الهجرة من مكة والالتحاق بجماعة جديدة من المهتدين الذين نشئوا بين القبائل في مدينة إلى الشمال تدعى يثرب وانتشر الإسلام بسرعة من خلال العشائر في يثرب وفى غضون عام أصبح المسلمون يشكلون الغالبية في المدينة ،بعدها نصبت المدينة الرسول حاكما عليها وتغير اسم المدينة ليصبح مدينة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والتي أختصر اسمها فيما بعد إلى المدينة وفى الثمانية سنوات التي تلت ذلك شنت عشائر مكة والأراضي المجاورة سلسلة من الحملات الحربية الغير ناجحة ضد دولة المسلمين المنبثقة في المدينة والتي انتهت بالفتح الإسلامي لمكة نفسها.
All of this bloodshed could have been avoided if only the Quraish and their allies had been able to produce a mere three lines of poetry or flowing prose similar to the shortest chapter of the Quran. Hence, there can be no doubt about the inimitability of the Quran’s literary style, about the miracle of its rhyme and the marvel of its rhythm.
كان من الممكن تجنب كل سفك الدماء هذا لو أن قريش وحلفائها كانت لديهم القدرة على الإتيان بثلاثة أبيات من الشعر أو النثر المسترسل مشابهة لأقصر سور القرآن. ومن ثم كان لا يوجد أي شك حول التميز الفريد للأسلوب الأدبي في القرآن فيما يخص معجزة السجع وروعة التناغم الموجودين به
It has been suggested that the inimitability of the Quran is not necessarily unique, for great English poets like Shakespeare, Chaucer, or great poets in any language tend to have distinctly unique styles which set them apart from their contemporaries. However, if, for example, any leading poet of today were to make an in-depth study of Shakespeare’s writings and write a sonnet in Shakespeare’s style in old ink and on old paper, then claim that he had discovered a lost poem of Shakespeare’s, the literary world would probably accept this claim, even after careful study. Thus, even the greatest of poets could be imitated; no matter how unique his style was, just as the famous painters have been imitated. [In fact, some English scholars consider much of what has been attributed to Shakespeare to have been written by his contemporary, Christopher Marlowe.] The Quran, however, is way above this level, as attempts to forge chapters have been made throughout the ages, yet none has withstood close scrutiny. And, as was mentioned before, the incentive to imitate the Quran was more intense during the time of its revelation when literally skills were at their peak than at any other time, yet there was no successful attempt.
لقد كان من المقترح بأن الأسلوب الفريد للقرآن ليس بالضرورة فريدا من نوعه، لأن شعراء اللغة الإنجليزية الكبار أمثال شكسبير وشوسير أو الشعراء الكبار لأي لغة أخرى يميلون دون شك إلى اتخاذ أساليب فريدة تميزهم عن معاصريهم. لكن على سبيل المثال لو أن أي شاعر رائد من شعراء هذا العصر كان ليقوم بدراسة مستفيضة لكتابات شكسبير ويقوم بكتابة قصيدة على طريقة شكسبير بحبر قديم وعلى ورقة قديمة وبعد ذلك يدعى بأنه قد اكتشف قصيدة مفقودة لشكسبير فعلى الأرجح سيتقبل العالم هذا الادعاء حتى لو بعد دراسة دقيقة. وبالتالي حتى أعظم الشعراء يمكن تقليدهم بصرف النظر عن كيف كان أسلوبهم متميزا وتماما كما تم تقليد الرسامين المشهورين.(في حقيقة الأمر يعتبر بعض علماء اللغة الإنجليزية أن كثيرا مما نسب إلى شكسبير قد قام بكتابته معاصره كريستوفر مارلووى.) لكن القرآن أعلى وأعظم من أن يتدنى لهذا المستوى لأن المحاولات لتحريف السور قد تم القيام بها على مر العصور وبالرغم من ذلك لم يصمد احد أمام هذا التنزيل المحكم، وكما ذكرنا سابقا وبكل موضوعية أن الحافز لتقليد القرآن كان أشد وأقوى وقت نزول القرآن عندما كانت المهارات الأدبية في ذروتها وأكثر من أي وقت آخر ومع ذلك تعذر وجود أي محاولة ناجحة.

الاخ احمد وحيد هذا عمل جيد جزاك الله خيراً ولكن اقترح ترجمة not only في السطر الاول( فحسب) وتصير الجملة لم يكن القران فريداً في في الطريقة التي يقدم فيها مادة بحثه فحسب بل أيضا لأنه معجزة في حد ذاته
