Anti-Protozoal Drugs
Naphthalene

Phenanthrene

The drugs of this class are the chemicals, and other Phthaleins Phenolphthalein, and the vegetable drugs, aloes, Frangula, cas-cara, Rhubarb, and Senna. Though these drugs are mildly irritant , even large doses do not produce inflammation of the intestine; but if they are not carried out, the active principles , because of their absorbability, pass from the intestine into the blood and produce systemic symptoms. is insoluble in water and soluble in thirteen parts of alcohol ; dose 2 1 / 2 grains (12:15 a.m. gm.).
