When you went away
I remembered
how your hands used to wash
my hair
wipe away my fear
rub my stiffened fingers
and draw pictures upon the small wall
on whose floors I sat
observing a long, high door
that had frozen
while waiting for you to come
waiting for you to pass by
waiting for me to tune my harp
with the rustling of your steps
whose rhythm had been
stumbling
إيقاعٌ يتعثَّر

حينَ ابتعدتِ
تذكَّرتُ
كانت يداكِ تُغسِّلُ شَعري
وتمسحُ خوفي
تُمسِّدُ فوقَ أصابعيَ اليابساتِ
وترسمُ فوقَ الجدارِ الصَّغيرِ الذي كنتُ أجلسُ
فوقَ مصاطبِهِ وأُراقبُ باباً طويلاً بعيداً
تجمَّدَ مُنتظراً أن تجيئي
ومُنتظراً أن تمُرِّي
ومُنتظراً أن أُدوزنَ قيثارتي
بحفيفِ خُطاكِ
التي دائماً كانَ إيقاعها
يتعثَّرْ .
