Before her last nap, her memory was lit up by masked men bouncing between the ropes of the tent, shouting

حين مُدِدَت في نقّالة سيارة الإسعاف التي تهادت عبر منحدر يوصل للمخيم، أول ما تَذَكَرَتهُ عرس شهيدها الذي سجّل الرقم الأول.
لماذا غزا قلبها إحساسٌ بالهزيمة وتقطّر الحزن في روحها وهي ترنو ببصر كليلٍ من شُباك السيارة نحو بيوت يحتلها العراء؟
طحن فؤادها ألم مباغت وصار فمها صحراء. بيد راجفة تلمست جِلد المقعد وأخذتها سِنة نوم.
لماذا يستيقظ في الليل الألم، ولا تتجسّد الرؤيا إلا باللمس؟
حلّقت فوق رأسها طيور بيض، سمعت رغاء نوق لها أجنحة، رأت شجرة تنبع من ساقها عينان تجريان.
أضاء ذاكرتها قبل الغفوة الأخيرة ملثمون يتقافزون بين حبال الخيمة مرددين:
- جاسوس، جاسوس
رحم الله امرأة كانت وطنا وعجزت الكلمات أن تكتب حكايتها.
