Between poetry and myself,
Exist vast spaces
Where the clouds of my agonies
Appear in succession
The seas of passion
Overflowed of my tears
A horizon for which
My sighs are unleashed
And a dancing melody
Shows off in my mirror
Where I can see people
Through the windows of my eyes
Between poetry and myself,
Exist murmurs to break monotony of the days
To raise the stooped dreams
Hummings to uproot
Pains from among
The pains of the heart
To re-gather a sole that
Scattered into pieces
And left the bone cage of my chest
To drown in the seas of sorrow
Between poetry and myself,
exist a window, through which
I launch my suppressed voice
as a storm…
…as a song ….as a flute
Between poetry and myself,
exist a history of rounds
battlefields…
thoughts…
imaginings…
waging wars over paper,
armed with readiness and anxiety
hope overwhelms long nights
with sleeplessness
to reshape my person
and sketch my path
Between poetry and myself
I pass my wounds
urged by a poem.
If I were to grow faint,
or show frailty,
a poem would open its arms to carry me.
If exile tore me apart in its alleyways,
a poem would reunite me.
When chased by anguish and failures,
a poem would be my warm sanctuary,
To its verses I resort,
From the fury of the prison guard
The hateful enemy
The stab of loved ones.
Having lost my home,
my homeland postponed,
a poem turns into one
And my home becomes its stanzas
A Lap for the river of my tears
My homeland in my bag
is my heart
in my Diaspora,
and the poem is the home I pine to call on
mother that lulls me to sleep
my song
my love
my identity
my aspiration
my disease and cure.
When paper becomes scarce,
for it I would offer my skin.
When ink becomes scarce,
for it I would offer my veins
And the sea of my blood
