A Poem By the poet:Khamees
Who will rescue the princess?"0"
Translated by Sami Khamou
Come morning, afternoon and nightfall
I spot you always
Through my little screen
ِA heartbreaking sight
And grave danger
Sending waves of chill through my spine
I spend my day pondering in puzzlement and amazement
Why is my beautiful sweetheart
Always deceived?0
Wearing no bracelets, veil or braids
With broken wings, and sightless eyes
Grumbling to heaven and earth
Pleading O’ country, worshippers, and clan
Don't you see I am held captive?o
Am I not worthy of your affection and love?o
Your silence - your unbearable unexplainable silence
Talking to me with broken heart
What my eyes can see"
my hands can’t reach"0
That big lie and deception
Won’t fool someone
Used to your inaction
For whoever has a bit of gallantry
Blameless of compromising his morality
Would leap in a hurry
Leaving his cozy bed
With its extended wide mattress
Toting arms and ammunition
Shouting Allah is great, shaking the earth with the exclamation
Breaking the gates to enter the shelter
Cursing the hated rascal invaders
I am the one who, from your assault,0
Would rescue the Princess!0
What description of yours is left untold
Whatever caused our abundant tears to flow
We expressed in a poem or a short tale
Yonder are loads of my ancient poems
Like withered unscented blooms
When will the new exciting idea emerge
To add to our path an illuminative point
Urging our resolve to continue the stride?0
Have our dazzling leaves lost their lush?0
Have we dried out our water-rich land?0
Are we living in one island
And the truth in a different Island?0
Or are we hiding what we conceive?!0
Probably, a poem by its truthfulness is glorified
Cherished by our voluminous masses
That, in an instant, the poet’s fate decide?o
And led a poet called “Samir”0
or a poetess called “Samira”0
To die for telling the truth
***
When shall we reveal, O Princess, your full tale?o
When, I wonder, would I compose
My last poem with no fail?o
