May God Protect You

I behold a face awash with light
A face aglow with majestic radiance
By striking beauty engulfed
By heavenly angels blessed
Uniquely charming in the evening
As if borrowing its splendor from bright stars
Greatly I enjoyed gazing at that face
And delighted in listening to a voice
Emanating dignity and modesty
Was it a glance that evoked those sentiments
Or was it the melodious, pure voice
O how the beauty of that face
Subtly mingled with every charm
Resembled the moon
In its bestowal of rays
Inadvertently and momentarily
That face inclined toward me
With loving, hope-kindling eyes
Their rays met in the dark
The rays of my own
As if I glimpsed the glorious beams of a luminary
A shy smile hovered over that face
Only to intoxicatingly vanish
within thick, luxuriant locks of hair
Infatuated by the rare beauty of a mouth
Dazzled by superb manners
I murmured a prayer, saying
May God save you
And protect you from all harm
