تمر بنا في هذه الأيام المباركة الذكري العطرة لمولد نبي الإسلام.. محمد.. صلوات الله وسلامه عليه.. رحمة السماء المهداة إلى الأرض، وخاتم الأنبياء والمرسلين.
بعثه الله شاهدا ومبشرا ونذيرا.. فبلغ الرسالة وادي الأمانة.. ودعا إلى سبيل ربه بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة.. فاخرج الناس من الظلمات إلى النور، وترك لنا في سنته المطهرة الخلق العظيم والمثل الاعلي.
يسعدني في هذه الذكري الخالدة، ان أتوجه بالتهنئة إلى شعب مصر وشعوب الأمة العربية والإسلامية، وجالياتها في مشارق الأرض ومغاربها، كما يسعدني ان أتوجه بالتحية إلى رجال الأزهر الشريف ودعاته وعلمائه، الذين يحرصون علي ان يأتي احتفالنا السنوي بالمولد النبوي.. مناسبة نستلهم منها الزاد المتجدد والعبرة والموعظة.
لقد اعتدنا ان نجعل احتفالنا بالمولد النبوي الشريف، موصولا بحاضر امتنا ومستقبلها.. نتوقف إمام السيرة العطرة لرسولنا الكريم، والرسالة العظيمة التي حملها ألينا.. ونتمعن في أحوال أوطاننا وشعوبنا وعالمنا الإسلامي، بما نواجهه من قضايا وتحديات ومخاطر، وما نتطلع إليه من آمال وطموحات.
أتوقف معكم اليوم.. إمام بعض ما تنطوي عليه هذه المناسبة الكريمة من معان ودلالات، تتصل بمعطيات المرحلة الراهنة علي ارض مصر، وما تشهده امتنا الإسلامية من تطورات، وما تواجهه من تحديات في محيطها الدولي علي اتساع العالم.
ان هذه المعاني والدلالات في صلتها الوثيقة بسيرة النبي الهادي إنما ترتبط بعضها البعض علي هذه المحاور الثلاثة، فستبقي مصر سندا لامتها.. تحافظ علي هويتها وتدافع عن مصالحها وقضاياها، وستظل الأمة الإسلامية بنيانا يشد بعضه بعضا.. تنهض بنهضة دولها وشعوبها.. وتحتل مكانتها اللائقة في العالم من حولها.. بتضامنها وتوحد كلمتها ومواقفها.

إننا في مصر ماضون علي طريق هذه النهضة بعزم وثقة، نستكمل أركان مجتمع حديث ومتطور.. يحقق مصالح وتطلعات أبنائه في حاضرهم ومستقبلهم.. نطور ديمقراطيتنا بخطوات تدفع بها إلى الإمام، ونواصل سياسات طموحة للتنمية والإصلاح الاقتصادي والاجتماعي.. نحمي سيادة الوطن واستقراره واستقلال إرادته، ونضطلع بدور فاعل دفاعا عن قضايا عالمنا العربي والإسلامي.
ما أحوجنا خلال هذه المرحلة للتأسي بسيرة نبينا الكريم.. وما أرساه من قيم العمل والمثابرة والتصميم.. كي تشحذ عزيمتنا في مواجهة تحديات الحاضر، وتدفع مسيرتنا لتحقيق طموحات المستقبل.
ما أحوجنا للتأسي بسماحته وخلقه العظيم.. فنجتمع علي ما يوحدنا لا ما يفرقنا، ونجتهد في بناء مجتمعنا وتعزيز أركانه وقوته وتماسكه.. بفكر مستنير يتوخي سلامة القصد.. وعمل جاد ودؤوب يعلي مصالح الوطن.
ما أحوج دعاتنا وعلمائنا لخطاب ديني متجدد، ينشر بين شبابنا قيم الاعتدال والوسطية والتسامح، يواجه دعاوي التكفير والغلو والتطرف، ويتصدي لأصوات تنسب للإسلام ما ليس فيه.. تجافي روح العصر وتغلق باب الاجتهاد.. تزعم احتكار الدين وتستتر بعباءته.. تحاول الوقيعة بين مسلمي مصر وأقباطها.. وتريد العودة بنا إلى الوراء.
أقول لعلمائنا ودعاتنا الإجلاء.. إنكم تتحملون أمانة كبري في المرحلة الراهنة من مسيرة الوطن.. علموا الناس ما ينفعهم ويعينهم علي المشاركة في حركة الحياة.. واجتهدوا لكي تنعكس القيم الرفيعة للدين في سلوكهم ومعاملاتهم ومشاركتهم في حركة المجتمع.
ان هذه المشاركة هي الضمانة الحقيقية لنجاح مسيرتنا، فالمستقبل الذي نسعى إليه لن يتحقق بالكلمات والشعارات والتمني.. وإنما تحققه مشاركة فاعلة تدفع مسيرة مصر إلى الإمام.. وتسهم بزخم جديد في مسيرة امتنا وعالمنا الإسلامي.
الأخوة والأخوات
ان العالم الإسلامي يجتاز أوقاتا صعبة، ويواجه أزمات متتالية وتحديات جديدة تعصف بأمتنا الإسلامية نزاعات وصراعات وحروب.. وتقلبات عالم مضطرب غاب عنه الاستقرار.
لا سبيل إمامنا سوي توحيد كلمتنا وتعزيز تضامننا.. ولا بديل عن محاصرة نوازع الشقاق والانقسام والتشرذم.. كي نقف صفا متينا يدا بيد.. دفاعا عن قضايا الأمة ومصالحها وهويتها ومقدساتها.
ان الإسلام دين واحد، وعلينا ان ننتبه لمخاطر جديدة تبعث علي القلق، تستهدف زرع الفتنة بين دوله وشعوبه، والوقيعة بين سنته وشيعته.
إنني احذر من الزج بالخلافات المذهبية في القضايا الإقليمية ومصائر الأوطان والشعوب.. وأتحسب من تحول هذه الخلافات لصراع سياسي.. ينال من وحدة المسلمين ويشق صفوفهم ويضعف أمتهم.
إننا في مصر نعي المنزلقات الخطرة لخلط الدين بالسياسة.. علي أرضنا وفي منطقتنا وعلي اتساع العالم الإسلامي.. نسعى لوأد فتنة طائفية تلوح في الأفق، ونرفض تقسيم المسلمين في العراق أو لبنان أو غيرهما علي أساس طائفي أو مذهبي.
لقد اضطلع الأزهر الشريف بدور هام عبر سنوات طويلة، لإعلاء قيم الوسطية والاعتدال والتسامح، وللتقريب بين المذاهب.. ولا مصلحة لأحد اليوم في ان تتحول دعاوي صدام الحضارات والأديان.. إلى مواجهة بين مذاهب الدين الإسلامي الواحد.
ان الدفاع عن قضايا الأمة مسئولية مشتركة بين دولها.. وسيأتي حكم التاريخ والشعوب قاسيا.. علي من ينزلق بعالمنا الإسلامي لما يضعف وحدته.. أو ينال من استقراره وأمنه ومسيرته.
الأخوة والأخوات
ان امتنا الإسلامية لا تحيا بمعزل عن العالم، وإنما تتفاعل معه وتتأثر به وتؤثر فيه، وتواجه ما يطرحه من معطيات وتحديات ومخاطر.
ونحن في مصر ندرك إبعاد الظرف الدولي الراهن، بتشابكه وتعقيداته.. ونثق في قدرتنا بعون الله وتوفيقه علي التعامل معه.. دفاعا عن هويتنا ومقدساتنا.. وقضايا مصر وأمتها.
نبذل أقصي الجهد لتعزيز تضامن العالم الإسلامي.. كي نتحدث بصوت واحد.. يواجه محاولات الإساءة والتطاول والتجاوزات.. يتصدي لمحاولات ربط الإرهاب بالعروبة والإسلام.. يفند المغالطات والافتراءات.. ويعبر عن الوجه الحقيقي لديننا.. وجوهر تعاليمه وسماحته وصحيح عقائده.
لقد اختم المؤتمر السنوي للمجلس الاعلي للشئون الإسلامية إعماله الأسبوع الماضي، وتناول للعام الثاني علي التوالي مشكلات العالم الإسلامي في عصر العولمة.. واحسب ان هذا الموضوع سيظل مطروحا لسنوات مقبلة.. سعيا لموقف مشترك في التعامل مع العالم من حولنا.. يحفظ هويتنا الإسلامية وخصوصياتها، لا يفرط في ثوابتها ومقدساتها، وينفتح في ذات الوقت علي منجزات العصر وعلومه ومعارفه.

لقد بعث الله محمدا رحمة للعالمين.. وليعيد البشرية من جديد إلى طريق سار عليه وبشر به جميع الأنبياء والمرسلين.
وأننا إذ نحتفل بذكري مولده وسيرته العطرة.. نتطلع بثقة وأمل لان يصبح تاريخ امتنا العريقة.. موصولا بحاضرها ومستقبلها.. ولان نستلهم من سنته المطهرة.. زادا متجددا وعزما ويقينا.
أدعو الله في خشوع هذه الذكري المباركة.. ان يوفقنا ويسدد خطانا وادعوه سبحانه ان يحفظ شعب مصر.. سندا لوطنه وذخرا لامته.

Address By President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak on the Occa-sion of Celebrating Prophet Muhammad's Birthday
Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar,
Egypt's Dear Guests,
Reverend Ulema,
Brothers and Sisters,
These blessed days, we recall to memory the glorious birthday of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace and prayers be upon him); Heaven's bestowed mercy on earth, and the seal of prophets and messengers. Sent by Allah as a witness, an auspicious harbinger of both glad tidings( for good-doers and bad news ( for wrong-doers), he did convey the message, fulfill the trust and called people to follow Allah's path with wisdom and good example and thus could lead peoples out of darkness to light. Through his immaculate and blessed tradition, he gave us a good example of ideal.
On this everlasting occasion, it gives me pleasure to congratulate the Egyptian, Arab and Islamic peoples and Muslim communities all over the world. Greetings are also due to Al-Azhar staff, Doa'a (preachers) and Ulema who are keen on rendering our celebration of the Prophet's birthday an occasion for us to inspire renewable support and good example.
It has a habitual practice to link our celebration to our nation's present and future; ponder on the exquisite course of life of our gracious Prophet and the great message he conveyed ; to mull over the status of our homelands, peoples and Islamic world in general together with the issues, challenges and risks we face and the hopes and aspirations we look forward to. Today, let me dwell on some of the implications and connotations of this most cherished occasion as they relate to the realities of the current phase in Egypt and the developments taking place in our Islamic nation and the challenges it faces within its on the international arena. In their close relationship to the life of the guiding Prophet, these implications and connotations are interrelated on these three pivots. Egypt will remain a support for its nation, keeping its identity and defending its interests and causes.
The Islamic nation will remain a self-cohesive and mutually supportive entity that will rise with the revival of its states and nations and to the position that become it in the world through its solidarity, unity of opinion and stances.
We in Egypt are pursuing the track of this revival with determination and confidence, completing the pillars of a modern and developed society that can realize the present and future interests and aspirations of its members. We are enhancing our democracy through forward-looking steps and are pursuing ambitious policies of development and economic and social reform. Moreover, we protect the sovereignty and stability of our homeland, its independent will and shoulder an active role in defending issues of our Arab and Islamic world.
At this stage much more than ever do we in need to follow the example of the life of our gracious prophet and the values of work, persistence and determination. This would whet our will to confront present challenges and forge our way to realize our future ambitions.
At this stage more much than ever do we in need to follow the example of his tolerance and laudable manners; converging on that which brings us together rather than sets us apart and diligently building our society, bolstering its pillars, strength and solidarity with enlightened thought based on good intentions, serious and strenuous work that bolsters our homeland's interests.
At this stage more much than ever is the need by our Doa'a (preachers) and Ulema for renewable religious discourse that spreads among our youth values of moderation, centrism and tolerance. Such a discourse can confront rigid and extremist claims and those charging people with infidelity, and to stand in the face of voices that attribute to Islam things extrinsic to it. Inconsistent with the spirit of the age, these voices close the door to diligence interpretation, claiming monopoly of religion. Under this cloak, they are trying to drive a wedge between Muslims and Copts and to reverse our course.
I say to our distinguished Ulema and Doa'a (preachers); you shoulder a major trust in the current stage of our march. Teach people what benefits and helps them participate in the movement of life. Do your best so that sublime religious values may be reflected in people's behavior, dealings and participation in society.
This participation is the real guarantee for the success of our march. The future we aspire for will not be achieved by words, slogans or well-wishing, but by active participation that can push Egypt's march forward and contribute fresh momentum to the progress of our Islamic nation and world.
Brothers and Sisters,
The Islamic world is passing through hard times and is facing successive crises and new challenges.
Our Islamic nation is being subjected to serious conflicts, disputes and wars and volatilities of a turbulent and unstable world.
We have no way but to come to a common agreement and bolster our solidarity. We have no choice but to contain leaning towards dissent, division and fragmentation in order to stand hand in hand in close ranks in defense of the causes, interests, identity and sanctities of the nation.
Islam is one religion and we should be aware of the new risks that provoke concern aimed to sow seeds of sedition between its countries and peoples and drive a wedge between the Sunnis and Shiites.
I warn against involving sectarian disputes into regional issues and destinies of countries and peoples. I am afraid these disputes may develop into political conflict that may undermining Moslem unity, split their ranks and dilapidate the nation.
In Egypt, we are aware of the potential hazardous consequences mixing religion with politics in our country, our region and the Islamic world at large.
We seek to nip in the bud sectarian sedition and refuse to divide Moslems in Iraq or Lebanon, etc on sectarian or doctrinal basis.
Over long years, Al-Azhar Al-Shareef has undertaken an important role to promote values of tolerance moderation and centrism bring doctrines closer
It is not in the interest of party see claims of religions and civilization clash develop into a confrontation between the doctrines of the one religion of Islam.
Defense of the nation's causes is a common responsibility for its states. He will harshly judged by history and peoples who causes our Islamic world to slip into grounds where it is render it weak and unstable or its security and progress undermined.
Brothers and Sisters,
Our Islamic nation lives not in isolation from the world, but interacts with it; it affects and is affected by it. It also, it faces realities, challenges and risks posed by the world.
Here in Egypt, we recognize the dimensions of the current international circumstance with its intricacies and complexities. With God's help and guidance, we are confident of our ability to deal with it in defence of our identity, our sanctities as well as the causes of Egypt and its nation.
We exert utmost efforts to reinforce the Islamic world's solidarity to speak the same voice in confronting attempts of offense, insolence and transgression. Furthermore, we face up attempts to associate terrorism to Arabism and Islam. In addition, we rebut fault-finding and prevarications, expressing the true face of our religion, the essence of its teachings, its tolerance and true beliefs.
The annual conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs winded down last week. It tackled, for the second year consecutively, the problems of Islamic world within the context of globalization. I think this issue will remain on the table for some years to come, in pursuit of a joint stance in dealing with the world around us. This should a stance that maintains our Islamic identity and its idiosyncrasies. While sticking close to our constants and sanctities, we should open up to the achievements, sciences and knowledge of the age.

Allah sent Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a mercy to both worlds and to bring back humanity to the path where all prophets and messengers had trodden and preached.
As we celebrate the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad's birth and his gracious life, we look forward with confidence and hope to seeing the history of our deep-rooted nation closely linked to its present and future and to invoke renewable energy, determination and certainty from his blessed traditions.
I humbly pray to Allah on this blessed occasion to guide us to success and to preserve Egypt's peoples as a bastion to their homeland and asset to their nation.
