Man’s Desire (Man’s Desire)
A Poem by the poet Abo Al-Atahiyah

Man desires as death clinches tight… the Divine Will jerks and ups him down

No more adds a niggard to his share …….. God destines it and brings forth
No blame on Life , for ….. fewer who contend life than raging at
A plight every corner lies for Man … An eye on him is set
Death is a bowl inescapable destiny …a bitter taste , abominable drink
Slightly mentioned by the fearless young …. Among a group as fearing not
At full mirth , death snatches him potent
Lamented by afore pleasure .. crying its death
He who made life his utmost desire
Snared him strained
Be patient to life and chagrin depart … Not all find a mirth in
Days keep on irking Man ….. endowing & stripping pleasures
If still wonders about …… days amore hazing
