A Trip with a Child and a Little Bird

As he was accustomed, he went out early in the morning
Carrying his hunting rifle
He wended his way amidst trees and curved paths
As he looked up into the sky, his four-year old son softly
Whispered to him and pointed his finger in the direction
Of a little bird that had suddenly landed on the bank of the lake
To quench its thirst and moisten its dry mouth
Smilingly, he looked at his son and took aim at the bird
Pointing his rifle at its head, he shot the bird dead
Forthwith, he rushed to it and found it a lifeless corpse
Drops of blood mixed with the water in its open mouth
He grabbed it by the legs and brought it to his son
To show him that indeed he was a skillful hunter
Only to find him lying breathless on the ground
With blood gushing out of his mouth


كعادته خرج مبكرا ليصطاد ببندقيته (الخرطوش)، وسط الأشجار والطرق المنحنية ، في لحظة نظرته إلى السماء همس إليه أبنه البالغ أربعة سنوات بصوت منخفض ، وهو يشير بأصابعه إلى عصفور هبط فجأة إلى شط البحيرة القريبة منهما، ليروي عطشه وجفاف فمه منها، فنظر إلى ابنه وهو يبتسم ثم صوب عينه اليمنى… إلى ( سن نملة الدبانة ) ووجه ماسورة بندقيته إلى رأس العصفور ثم أطلق رصاصته فقضى عليه ، وذهب مسرعا نحوه ليجده جثة هامدة ، وقد اختلطت قطرات المياه التي عادت من فمه المفتوح بنزيف رأسه الدامي، فحمله من رجليه ، وعاد إلى أبنه لكي يرى براعته في الصيد ! ، فوجده ملقي على الأرض جثة مقطوعة النفس بعد أن خرج من فمه بقايا مجاجه المدمم !!" .
