I longingly remembered you in Al-Zahraa, when the horizon was clear and the view of the earth was serenely beautiful
The breeze was soft and gentle in those early evening hours, as though it was showing sympathy toward me, and thus fainted in sheer compassion
And the flower-bedecked meadow smiled, revealing its silvery water, as if collars had been loosened from the upper bosom
A day like the past days of our pleasures is now gone; O how we stole those pleasures while Time slept
Our eyes were delighted with the sight of flowers, drenched with dewdrops; their necks bent
Their eyes, seeing my inability to sleep, shed glittering tears for me, bathing the petals with soft drops
Roses bloomed in their sun-warmed beds, adding more brightness to the late morning rays
The breeze wafting in the early dawn was laden with the sweet fragrance of drowsy white water lilies, whose eyes were made wide open by the morning
Everything evokes in me a memory that awakens my longing for you; a longing that my bosom can hardly contain
May God never grant tranquility to a heart that betrays your memory, and may that heart never flutter its wings in the skies of yearning
If the morning breeze were to carry me to you in the early dawn, it would bring you an emaciated lad, consumed by what he has long endured
Had Hope been faithful in bringing a union between us, it would have been the most noble and generous ever
O my most valued treasure! O closest beloved to my soul! Who could ever acquire treasures more precious than you
Long ago when we shared our heartfelt love, our reward was a field of intimacy, where we freely romped and happily strolled
Now I am grateful for the sweet times we shared together. Though you have forgotten, I yet remain in love as ever before
